King Crimson

KING CRIMSON TO RELEASE 'THE POWER TO BELIEVE' ON MARCH 4, 2003 ON SANCTUARY RECORDS. FIRST FULL-LENGTH WORK IN 3 YEARS!

"The benevolence of the musical impulse is greater than we can know, and sometimes more than we can bear."

- Robert Fripp - November, 2002

With 'The Power To Believe,' Guitarist Robert Fripp, vocalist/guitarist Adrian Belew, Warr guitarist/rubber bass guitarist Trey Gunn and drummer Pat Mastelotto have created a masterwork that both challenges the listener, and continues the musical legacy of King Crimson, which Fripp formed in 1969.

The tracks on 'The Power to Believe' include: "The Power to Believe I: A Cappella," "Level Five," "Eyes Wide Open," "Elektrik," "The Power to Believe II," "Facts of Life: Intro," "Facts of Life," "Dangerous Curves," "Happy With What You Have to Be Happy With," "The Power to Believe III" and "The Power to Believe IV: Coda."

Mastelotto says much of the material on 'The Power to Believe' evolved on the band's last tour before it was recorded in the summer of 2002.

"The last studio record 'TCOL' was written arranged and recorded quickly in Adrians modest home studio but this time we did things differently in that we auditioned, improvised and played in song ideas on stage and then actually went in to a really HUGE studio -- The Tracking Room in Nashville -- to record most of this new album with an outside producer Machine (White Zombie, Pitchshifter) " Mastelotto says.

"A lot of times, music needs to find its atmosphere and that often involves production to help set the music up and Machine and Singleton added immensely in that 'goosebump' department " Mastelotto says.

"Robert considers an album to be the end of a chapter and a tour to be the start of a chapter, which is the opposite way most bands work, so i guess we get to begin again soon ."

King Crimson, which recently expanded its legions of fans, by touring with disciples Tool, will hit the concert trail again in 2003 to promote 'The Power to Believe.'
